Saint Paul Online Teaching Course (SPOT)
The Saint Paul Online Teaching Course (SPOT) Fall 2023 is an online, synchronous, course facilitated by Academic Effectiveness and Innovation (AEI). It was developed by AEI, IT, and with the help of a consultant and our Faculty Tech Coaches in order to help faculty to teach online in a way that is organized, engaging, and equitable.
What
The course learning outcomes are:
- Create engaging modules for an online course
- Apply online learning technology in the service of a learning outcome
- Build clear and organized modules in D2L BrightSpace
- Create a welcoming and equitable space online
- Describe your own online teaching persona
How
The time commitment, including nine 30-minute weekly Zoom meetings, is under 2 hours per week with a final project of building and presenting 2 modules in a D2L Brightspace shell that demonstrates what you have learned.
